For over 2 decades the Marie Stopes clinic on Mattock Lane has been met by the regular presence of vigil holders, purportedly from The Good Counsel Network, who are staunchly pro-life and actively oppose the service that’s on offer here. We have so far tried to contact this group for the sake of an interview though have so far been met with no response.
The aforementioned group of protestors have been met by a wave of criticism, with members of the public often complaining that they feel harassed. Others simply do not feel comfortable with their presence and believe that they’re entitled to their own beliefs, including openly expressing them, though should do so elsewhere. Further criticism includes the group’s regular unabashed use of vulgar imagery to drill home their message.
One group that has grown in opposition to The Good Counsel Network, and gained a lot of support and recognition along the way, is Sister Supporter. We’re due to interview the group’s founder, Anna Veglio-White.
Before then however we’d love for you all to sound off with your opinions on the matter right here!
Are The Good Counsel Network members entitled to express these views in public, or do these actions amount to a form of harassment and abuse?
