Hanwell! (Ealing Is Changing)

We take a look at changes happening in Hanwell and set them in the context of what Ealing Council planned for Hanwell 2012 to 2026 in the current Local Plan. In response to the crisis in an emergency, temporary social housing, we look at the sea container ‘village’ in Bordars Walk on the Cuckoo Estate. There are two significant residential development sites on the Uxbridge Road in the centre, one big one on Boston Road, on-going refurbishment and new build in Copley Close, and a residential tower block planned for Trumpers Way.

  • It would have been good for Eric to be able to speak to a resident living in one of the containers to discuss living conditions and how long they’ve been there to highlight the disparity between all the new private developments and close by this families that have to live long term in unsuitable accommodation

  • Hi thanks for doing these video very interesting and informative. Can you do s video on how the council has £50m debt and why it didn’t receive any money for south Acton estate, Acton Town hall, and dickens yards. And if it did receive any money from
The developer where did that money go.

    • Thanks Mehdi. There’s no shortage of topics for us to cover. On 16 September we’re filming in Southall and on 23 September we’ll be at Warren Farm. In October we’ll be filming in Acton and Greenford. In November we’ll film in Perivale and Northolt. Before Christmas we’ll do a special video on Ealing Council’s policies on asset disposal, development funding and future plans. As well as this we plan to film examples of Ealing residents at play and some of the good things about our communities!
